14 November | Sharm El-Sheikh & Online

The transition away from fossil fuels needs to happen faster, and on a greater scale, to meet the 1.5°C target, which, according to Climate Action Tracker, requires the global share of renewable energy in power generation to be increased to at least 75%.

This event on energy sector reform aims to suggest policy reforms and share experiences and learnings from both the global north and south in reference to the just energy transition mechanisms and policy packages. We will bring together a panel of leading experts from the power sector, national and international agencies, and civil society. Discussions will examine redefining the energy sector to prepare for the next “generation” power to accommodate the increase of renewables in the energy mix and avoid fossil fuel lock-in in order to meet the 1.5°C target.

Some of the speakers scheduled to attend include:

  • Keynote: Mary Burce Warlick, IEA
  • Mika Ohbayashi, REI
  • Eoghan Griffin, Meta
  • Antonella Battaglini, RGI
  • Ahmed Mulla, Infinity
