9-20 November 2026 | Antalya, Türkiye
Carbon Tracker will be attending COP31 in Antalya, with a particular focus on the economic and financial implications of transitioning away from fossil fuels (TAFF). As the second global stocktake (GST2) begins, we expect the practical challenges of delivering that transition to feature prominently in discussions beyond the formal negotiations.
Our programme includes an official UNFCCC side event on transport electrification, alongside speaking engagements on methane, stranded assets and physical climate risk, and discussions with policymakers, financial institutions and research partners.
Our COP31 side events
Carbon Tracker | Status of global climate action and the role of transport electrification in meeting climate goals
Wednesday 18 November | 13:15-14:45
Location: Side Event Room 8 – BERGAMA, Blue Zone
Transport electrification has a central role to play in reducing emissions, but progress varies considerably across markets.
This session will examine the economic and financial benefits of accelerating the transition to electric transport, alongside the policy and infrastructure barriers to wider adoption. Speakers will also consider the limitations of biofuels and the measures needed to advance transport decarbonisation in line with global climate goals.
Co-organisers: European Federation for Transport and Environment (T&E), Carbon Tracker Initiative, Climatepolicy.net e.V. (NewClimate Institute) and Institute for Essential Services Reform (IESR).
Speakers: Kadi Riskok, Transport & Environment; Fabby Tumiwa, Institute for Essential Services Reform; Nadia Hadad, Madani Berkelanjutan; Ben Scott, Carbon Tracker; Ana Missirliu, NewClimate Institute.
Other speaking engagements
Carbon Tracker representatives will also contribute to the following discussions:
10 November Methane emissions in fossil production
Time: 10:00-11:00
Location: Denmark Pavilion, Blue Zone
Hosted by Green Transition Denmark. The panel will explore how regulation, investment and corporate action can help deliver measurable reductions in methane emissions from fossil fuel production.
Building on the Global Methane Pledge, which aims to reduce global methane emissions by at least 30% by 2030 compared with 2020 levels, the discussion will examine how effective policy frameworks, financial incentives and corporate accountability can translate commitments into measurable action across the fossil fuel value chain.
11 November | Roundtable on stranded assets and physical climate risk
Hosted by Japan Climate Leaders’ Partnership (JCLP). The discussion will cover Carbon Tracker’s work on stranded assets, the underpricing of climate risk in financial markets and how investors and companies can prepare for these risks.
