22-26 March | Online

The inaugural global summit of the Climate Governance Initiative will convene board members, regulators, experts, academia and other corporate governance leaders to understand and act upon the risks and opportunities that the climate emergency poses to the long-term resilience and business success of their companies.

Organised and hosted by the Chapters of the Climate Governance Initiative, in collaboration with the World Economic Forum.

Carbon Tracker’s Founder and Executive Chair, Mark Campanale, will be moderating the discussion Achieving Net Zero: Global Oil & Gas.

Eight out of the world’s ten largest economies have pledged to reach net-zero emissions by 2050—nine once President Biden formalizes his campaign promise to do so. Boards of companies in these and other affected countries are therefore under increasing pressure to align their business strategies with the goals of the Paris Agreement, with the Oil and Gas sectors amongst the most impacted.

The challenge is clear: companies will need to accelerate climate action through strategic integration of climate transition goals, alongside the adoption of a robust governance framework to ensure effective delivery.

Join a discussion between board directors and chief executives on how to establish the key elements of a credible climate transition strategy, hear about the challenges and opportunities boards encounter on this journey, and the key role of the board in embodying strong climate governance to deliver on this ambitious agenda.

Speakers include:

  • Leonid Fedun – Board Member, Lukoil; Co-Chair, Climate Change Committee at the Russian Union of Industrialists
  • Patrick Pouyanné – CEO and Chairman, Total
  • Vicki Hollub – CEO, Occidental Petroleum
  • Tengku Muhammed Taufik – President and Group CEO, Petronas
