Carbon Tracker Initiative is one of four data providers to the Climate Action 100+ Net Zero Company Benchmark. The Benchmark assesses the performance of focus companies against three high-level goals: emissions reduction, governance, and disclosure on and implementation of net zero transition plans. Explore the sections below for a detailed view of how CA100+ focus companies are tracking against climate goals.

Climate Action 100+ (CA100+) is an investor-led initiative that ensures the world’s largest corporate greenhouse gas emitters take necessary action on climate change. Comprised of more than 700 investors collectively managing $68 trillion in assets, CA100+ engages with 170 focus companies, 75% of which now have net zero commitments.

CA100+ is delivered by five investor networks working with the initiative’s 700+ investor signatories:

  1. Asia Investor Group on Climate Change (AIGCC)
  2. Ceres
  3. Investor Group on Climate Change (IGCC)
  4. The Institutional Investors Group on Climate Change (IIGCC)
  5. Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI)

This represents an unprecedented effort by investors to require investee companies to decarbonize by setting goals aligned with the Paris Agreement and establishing governance and disclosure practices to support those efforts. For the world’s largest emitters, these plans are whole-company efforts.

Carbon Tracker’s role is to provide assessments that go beyond what companies are saying they do and examine what they are in fact doing. For the sectors and subjects we cover, our focus is on data that can demonstrate real progress – or the lack thereof.
