• PGE’s planned transition to net zero is not aligned with the goals of the Paris Agreement.
• PGE could retire 5.7GW of older less profitable coal capacity and suspend new gas projects such as Rybnik to get closer to alignment by 2030.
• However, with PGE under State ownership, Government may support losses and faces competing priorities, potentially delaying a policy response.
