Christopher leads Carbon Tracker’s Power and Utilities team. He is responsible for strategy and directs the power sector transition finance and technical economic data and analytical research programme.
He has worked in the international energy markets for over 25 years with a focus on fundamentals, infrastructure, and regulatory frameworks for the power and heat energy sectors. He has lead strategic consultancy and authored numerous techno-economic reports on sectors’ evolving infrastructure, policy, and market designs. He has been a continual advocate of a whole system approach and the principles of an orderly and equitable energy transition.
He spent 10 years at IHS (CERA) Markit (now S&P) heading power sector research and consultancy for the company’s integrated Russian and Caspian Energy Service, and was a senior director and thought leader in IHS Markit’s Global Power and Renewables service. For his work on energy transition and strategic development of Kazakhstan’s power and utilities’ sector, Christopher was awarded a State medal.
Before joining IHS Markit, Christopher co-founded SEEPX Energy, an power sector consultancy, that provided strategic advisory and regulatory analytics to governments and businesses in the UK, Europe, Balkans, Russia, Central Asia, and Pakistan.
He began his energy career in electricity trading, negotiating multi-million pound power contracts between energy companies. During this time, he also advised and managed client trading portfolios during the Enron collapse.
He completed his formal education in Her Majesty’s Armed Forces, where he served for eight years and achieved Best Recruit.
